What’s in your holistic first aid kit?

Do you have a first aid kit?  If you do, have you checked it lately?  Has anything expired?  Are things missing?  Could you replace anything with something more holistic?   Here is a list of supplies to help you build a great holistic first aid kit!

Homeopathic remedies are a great tool to have in your kit.  They are safe for everyone, including pregnant people and children.  You can even give them to your pets.    Don’t take them with peppermint and/or coffee.  If you are not familiar with taking remedies contact a practitioner to help you with dosing.  You are welcome to message me for help.

Arnica 30c – bumps, bruises, shock

Apis/Ledum 30c- bee stings

Symphytum 30c-broken bone, torn ligament

Urtica Urens 30c- prickly sun burn

Calendula ointment- an ointment will keep the area it is applied to protected since it’s a thicker consistency.  Apply it to burns, scrapes, cuts, cracked skin and blisters.

Arnica cream- rub arnica cream over sore muscles, swelling, and stiffness

Flower essences are one of my favorite healing modalities.  They are very gentle and effective.   For the purpose of a first aid kit you really only need one on hand and that is Rescue Remedy. It is the perfect essence for traumatic and/or stressful events.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING ESSENTIAL OILS NEAT or INGESTING OILS. PLEASE MIX WITH A CARRIER OIL.  CONTACT ME TO HELP WITH DILUTION RATIOS.

Lavender Lavandula angustifolia– great for burns, bites and stings

Clove Eugenia caryophyllata- apply to a toothache.  inhale for nausea not related to pregnancy.

German chamomile  Matricaria recutita – can be used as a tea for a calming effect and to help with sleep.  Soak a cloth in it and lay over irritated eyes.

Peppermint Mentha ×piperita- make a tea to soothe an upset stomach.

Yarrow Achillea millefolium- make a tea to help support fevers, relieve menstrual cramps and promote more restful sleep. Make a poultice with yarrow to help stop a bleeding cut and prevent infection.
