Placenta Salve…..What is it?

One of the add ons I offer is Placenta Salve.

Placenta Salve is made with my salve base and has dried placenta added to it.

It’s great for skin irritations, dry skin, perineal or c-section scarring once healed.

Yes you can encapsulate if you test positive for G

Yes you can encapsulate if you test positive for GBS. No you cannot if you have signs of an infection. Fever of 101.4 or higher.
If you test positive make sure your placenta encapsulator is educated on proper placenta encapsulation preparation.

An oldie but goodie:

Sigh. A client was misinformed by an OB that she could not encapsulate due to meconium. This is untrue. This is not based on fact or research.

A matter of fact is that research suggests it IS safe to encapsulate if there is meconium.

It’s never too late to encapsulate!

Placentophagy was not associated with any adverse

Placentophagy was not associated with any adverse neonatal outcomes according to research done by Oregon State University and UNLV.

Benyshek DC, Cheyney M, Brown J, Bovbjerg ML. Placentophagy among women planning community births in the United States: Frequency, rationale, and associated neonatal outcomes. Birth. 2018 Dec;45(4):459-468. doi: 10.1111/birt.12354. Epub 2018 May 2. PubMed PMID: 29722066.

Placenta encapsulation when done properly is safe. If your care provider tells you otherwise please share with them this study. I have no doubt that if your provider tells you this it is because they are concerned. However, the truth is most providers have not researched encapsulation themselves and are not kept up to date on the latest research.
